So, I'm bringing it to the people's panel...lol

Lola Omotayo and Peter Okoye of P-SQUARE
Peter granted an interview talking about his joy as a father and his intentions towards lola, his baby mama.
Excerpts...
For those that thought it wasn't right and those that were disappointed, what was your comment?
Peter "I have heard series of things and people didn't want to come out straight to say anything. The good thing is that they were never against me going out with Lola. Most people were thinking the whole thing will disrupt my career and all that. That was what everyone was concerned about.
In your perception, how do you think being a father will affect your career?
Peter "I was thinking it was going to affect my career, but now, within a short period of time, I don't think it will affect me. I can take care of my child"
At Lola's age, her family would have expected that she gets married before she gives birth
Peter "Age is just a number. I'm happy her parents are very understanding people and likewise my parents.
Will you two someday get married?
Peter "No one has talked about that. People actually thought that I am married but I'm not married. Everyone knows I'm single but the fact is that if God permits, fine. I think children are blessings from God."
Now that she has a child for you, do you want to marry this woman?
Peter "One way or the other everyone is going to get married one day. Even when you meet a girl today as a girlfriend, you can imagining her as a wife, so we all have that in mind. My time would always come"
Here's what Paul had to say...
Are you looking forward to doing something like this?
Paul "It's a great thing but it has to be done the proper way. The right way. For me, my own plan will have to wait till I get married"
Do you think that Peter having a baby will affect the group in any way?
Paul "Well, I don't think it would affect the group at all because it's not as if P-SQUARE said if we get married, we wold quit music. Music is just there, it's not like if you have a child, you can't contest or anything. It will not affect except Peter allows it. Like when we have concerts and Peter starts thinking that today is my son's birthday and all that but that can't happen"
Do you think that in the nearest future, Peter would marry Lola?
Paul "I think when the relationship started but now, I don't think so. That's what I feel"
Hips don't lie, check me out - Mercy Johnson
Mercy Johnson the second runner-up at recently adjudged sexiest female in Nolly wood was our guest on a day she chose to pick up her prize, a 32'’ LCD. Clad in a tight fitting black skirt, a white top and a matching D& G hand bag, she literally brought activities in the company to a halt.
With smiles powerful enough to awaken even a blind man and carriage good enough to steal the soul of even the devil himself, Mercy really showed that her choice by Nigerians as the third sexiest woman in Nollywood was no fluke.
You were not present on the D day, what happened?
I traveled to Europe for a movie cum close meeting with my fans for two months. I travelled around nine countries which include Germany, Belgium, Greece, Italy, France, Spain and others.
Who was in charge of that?
Isaac... , he’s been there for about eight years, so he’s well known there. It was an opportunity to get closer to my fans, sign autographs for them and answer questions that have been bothering them.
How was this all organised?
The person in charge has a website where fans vote for the artiste they want to meet. So if you are on high demand, he’ll organise for you to meet with them.
Which people did the voting?
Africans voted, but the whites voted more. Blacks who were married to white people brought their partners, it was fun all the way. Sometimes I hear them say ‘Mercy Johnson’ correct girl and things like that.
On arrival, how were you received?
Arrival was great, a lot of fans came to receive us and it was covered by a TV station in Berlin owned by a Nigerian. We were taken to various places to hang out and take some drinks. It was grand and awesome.
What was the most memorable thing you experienced over there?
In Nigeria so many things are overlooked but abroad I found out that people appreciate celebrities more. At a point I started crying because of the kind of reception we got, some fans even broke into tears.
At that point I said to myself that I’m never going to do anything illegal and I’ll do my job better than ever. I would be good because I never want to disappoint all these people who appreciate me so much. I can tell you the experience was great and awesome.
What did you benefit from that trip?
Lots of things because the organiser is a great man. I say this because he didn’t just bring us there to have fun alone, he also put together some thing like a workshop for us to learn. We also had to do movie with one of their Berlin artistes, Mr Haggin who is popular there.
The man was surprised that we were able to pick our lines that same day because he’s had the script for about a month. It was also awesome because over there, their artistes usually go to artiste school which I didn’t attend. So it was more like exchanging ideas and personally I learnt something new
What do they think about Nollywood?
They think it’s got wide entertainment opportunity, they think we’ve not even started and we are doing so well. They see Nollywood as a system that’s been able to compete with their foreign counterparts despite sophisticated machines and manpower they use over there. In fact, they see Nollywood as
What are those things you noticed they do perfectly well which we’ve not even started doing here?
Costuming. They costume base on your colour and environment. In Nollywood, it’s difficult to see two artiste wear white upon white, they’ll complain about lighting. But they think it is a minute thing to think of.
They seem to have more time for production than we do. In Nollywood, a particular person can do 10 movies in a month and when they’ll come out not very interesting. No matter how awesome you may have done it, you’ll find out that you could have done better if you had enough time to rest.
How do you think your fans should address you?
Just Mercy. A lot of them say something like ‘hips don’t lie.’
What’s the meaning of that?
They say the hip is beautiful, loud and nice.
And what do you think?
ImageI’m just normal and gifted like every other person, nothing special.
When did you notice this hip thing?
Three years ago. That was when people started shouting Wao! See her hip and stomach. Honestly, before then, I didn’t see it as anything, it didn’t count and I carry myself like any other normal person.
Who discovered you into Nollywood?
I was discovered by Kenneth Nnebue of NEK Video link.
What did you do for NEK?
I starred in one of his movies and when that movie came out it was an instant hit for me.
Some of your fans argue that you overact in movies.
Yes I agree. I don’t frown at those arguments because the best way for me to learn is when they pick out the things I’m not doing well. After that, I’ll go back and look at my mistakes and correct them.
Do you kiss in movies?
Yes, I do. I feel terrible when I watch my movies and see where I’m supposed to kiss and I didn’t do it well. For me, acting is a flare, I wasn’t educated to act. I don’t like to fool my fans because I am being cautious of whom I’m kissing in movies. It’s all about the job and it doesn’t matter who I kiss.
What matters is that I do my job very well.
Do you have any feeling when you kiss in movies?
No, none at all. No arousal, no feeling, whatever. I just do it and move on to the next line.
What is it that attracts people to you?
Just the personality.
How do you treat them?
I welcome them, but I have a problem with people who want to treat me less than I am or try to take advantage of me. I love to appreciate myself and my job. So when I come across people who don’t appreciate me, who would rather say only the bad side of me, I don’t take it lightly with them. There is a Yoruba saying, that when you beat a child with one hand and hug him with the other hand, it makes him feel that he’s loved. I love to be treated right like every normal person would love to.
Which of your movies was more challenging?
Kill The Bride.
Did you kill any bride?
No, I was the bride and Mike Ezuruonye killed me.
What challenges do you see in taking roles?
In Nollywood these days, there isn’t much challenge because you tend to take up the same roles in up to three-four movies which have the same story line. Kill the bride was most challenging because it was my second movie. The first one was bigger than me as a person because I never thought I could do it, the tears, romance was unbelievably good.
How do you take it when fans embarrass you?
Despite their excesses, I still try to accommodate them because without them, there will be no me. I mean if 60 per cent of my fans be against me, I’m out of the market.
Have you had any embarrassing moment?
Yes, sometime ago I went to the airport to pick my ticket to travel to Europe and one of my fans just ran to me shouting my name. He then asked if he could give me a hug, I looked at him and said ok. He just hugged me, kissed my lips and started laughing. At that point, I didn’t know what to do so I started laughing too.
Why did you laugh?
It was unexpected and there was nothing else I could do.
What kind of person is Mercy at home?
She is just like any other girl, I do my house chores and when I’m not busy in the house, I stay in my room watching my movies and picking out all the flaws so that I can correct them when next I have to take up such roles.
What kind of relationship do you have with your friends?
I still maintain a very good relationship with my friends. Those I call my friends are the people who were with me when I was a nobody so I try as much as I can to keep them.
How about your boyfriend?
We broke up.
Why did he break up with such a lovely girl like you?
I don’t know, but I just think that it didn’t work. The fact that I’m an actress made my case bad, but then it could have happened to any other person.
Where do you stay?
My father insisted that I stay with him or I stop acting.
When you became a star, how did your father take it?
Well, he’s remained the biggest encouragement I ever got to be an actress.

With or without acting I am a fine man, women appreciate me - Clem Ohameze
It was so brazen of star actor Clem Ohameze who has featured in most of the Nigeria movies to admit he is a fine man and appreciated by women. But he does not see this virtue loudly flaunted by him as an excuse to sleep with his fans. " I am a fine man with or without acting, I get appreciated by women but first and fore- most I respect my marriage, and I don't sleep with my fans", he said.

Fans
Although he is handsome, tall and with a pointed nose, the Nollywood actor says to anybody who is willing to listen that he respects his marriage so well and will not lay down his reputation and mess around with other women, no matter how much they woo or appreciate his looks. Ohameze is conservative and says he does not like being called a star, although admitting that movie watchers like to see his face and most times buy films because he featured. "Everybody is a star and it depends on the way you look at it, it' s only natural that you get attracted to the opposite sex". Giving a peep into his world of admirations to the opposite sex, he informed that most of his fans are women. "If I am not exaggerating, about 92 per cent of my fans are women and I still believe that it is only natural that you get attracted to the opposite sex. But that notwithstanding, I respect my marriage, I don't engage in any inordinate relationship with them because that will make me cheap". To drive home his reservation about such relationships, Ohameze insists " it can debase a man. Although I really appreciate girls, appreciation should not go skin-deep. One should not capitalise on the fact that many people call you a superstar and then take that as an advantage on people".
Not just acting
The Nollywood actor with diploma in Mass Communication, and a degree in Sociology from the University of Port-Harcourt said before he joined the movie industry in 1996 that he was a businessman. "Outside acting, I still do other businesses. I was a contractor before I went into the industry, my entry into acting was through happenstance because it was a friend who introduced me to the movie industry. 'The friend was a schoolmate of mine, and he believed I would do better in the industry. So when he was going to direct and produce for Hint Magazine, he invited me for audition which I attended and surprisingly, I took the lead role, it was blissful and God has been very wonderful." He added that although he was nervous his first time, especially working with big stars in the industry as time went on he was able to overcome.
Embarrassing moment
Speaking with Saturday Sun, the Imo State-born actor who calls his fans attitude towards him as something a little away from outright embarrassment caused by excessive excitement said " the way they behave towards me is out of much excitement, in the sense that most times they don't know how to contain their feelings when they see you. They act like people forced to do one stupid thing or the other, but if you understand them, you will know the reason. That understanding I have developed over time makes me understand that they are not actually out to embarrass".

Immuned to criticism
"Every role is challenging and no story is small because I give myself into every movie, and I believe that I've created a standard which people look up to". To underscore his resolve to always strive higher, he has also concluded that criticisms would never take him aback. "Instead of allowing critics to have the better of me, especially those that don't actually point out the errors to correct or build but to bring down, I would rather take seriously every movie I take part in. "Because of my liberal approach to my roles in all acts, I cannot pinpoint particularly a film that has been more challenging than others. But talking about stress, some movies are more stressful than others. There are stories where you relax and take your lines, but there are some you go to the field and into the bush like Price of Sacrifices, which left me all soured but when the film came out it was worth the trouble, no pain no gain".
Playing real
You might not guess accurately why Ohameze seems to emerge the best and most natural in his roles until you listen to him say "I always come out with the best because I imagine my self to be the real person in that character. "I don't follow what is in the script most times. What I do is to go through the story and imagine if I found myself in that situation, what I would do. By putting myself as the real person in that character I get natural in movies and it has really helped me to interpret my roles".
I can act nude
Talking about romance in films, Ohameze said he could go any length just to do his job, " once the script says so. I have no limits, it's my career after all, I will act nude if the need be, it does not actually matter, especially with a wife who understands my career. I am fortunate to be married to a very exposed and educated woman. She has been abroad for almost 18 years, and knows what my kind of job entails. She knows my career is a make-believe, and so my wife understands, knowing full well that everything ends where it starts".
Happiest moment
Ohameze who is married and has a child, recalled that his happiest moment was when his wife was delivered of his daughter. "She was on her way to London to have our baby when her water broke in the air. That was ten minutes to her arrival in London, so she was rushed from the plane to the hospital. When I got the call, I prayed that everything should be alright, and fortunately, at the second call was the great news that she had been delivered of my daughter".
No sexual harassment here
Those that allege sexual harassment in the movie industry are liars, so says Ohameze. He challenges them that " the best way to prove the allegation is for one of them to identify herself a victim. We have been waiting for the opportunity when a person will come out to tell us that she has been harassed and who harassed her. But all we hear everyday is that I can't go into the film industry because there is so much sexual harassment. Apart from these unsubstantiated claims, we all know nobody can force you to sleep with you, otherwise it will be rape and it is criminal. You can only sleep with a man you want to. All I know is that these things are rumours. I remember sometime in the past when a rumour hit the streets that Nkiru Syvanus was dead, Nkem Owoh, dead and Clem Ohameze, dead. That rumour started somewhere. So anybody that is sexually harassed should come out and say it, because I have not heard that any artiste or director was arrested for rape and subsequently prosecuted and jailed when found guilty"

Her beauty and sexiness coupled with her acting prowess are outstanding qualities that have endeared her to many. Nollywood star actress Ini Edo is unarguably, the hottest star in Nollywood today. Since her debut few years ago, Ini’ who has starred in over a hundred movies, made a big comeback to Nollywood after the one-year ban order slammed on her by the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), was lifted. The Eket, Akwa-Ibom indigene here, opens up on her meteoric rise to stardom, the controversial “ban,” which lasted for four months, her relationship, life as an actress and more.
A lot of people have argued that your meteoric rise to stardom was sudden. Do you agree with them?
That is not true, I started years ago with auditions and minor roles, like six years. My first audition was for Child of Destiny, in Aba, Abia State. In fact, that was my first movie by Ndubuisi Okoh, from Zelex Productions. I did not plan where I am today and it is not because I am so good. For some reasons, I just have the favour of God and He made it happen. But, I don’t like to admit I came from nowhere, I have paid a few dues. I may not have had it as rough as others, but, in my own little way, I didn’t have it so smooth like that. I had a divine enlistment at the end of the day.
So, what were the major challenges you encountered on your way to the top?
When you come into an industry like Nollywood, it takes time for you to convince people to believe in you and also stake their money on you. Especially if you consider the fact that you are not known. I had to work harder in order to be given a chance to get to where I am today.
When did you get your first big break in Nollywood?
World’s Apart, from the stable of Great Movies Production, was a major break for me, even though I had done other movies before then. It actually brought me to the limelight. I was already a diploma student of Theatre Arts at University of Uyo when I traveled to Aba for my first movie. A course mate of mine invited us, so my coming into Nollywood was never by accident. But, unfortunately, I never wanted to be an actress, I dreamt of becoming a lawyer or a newscaster. I was an actress in my school days; I was at New Era Nursery School, Eket, my town in Akwa-Ibom State. I eventually graduated with a degree in English and Literary Studies from University of Calabar. I will be going for NYSC soon.
What happens to your acting career when you leave?
My career will still be there. Just for one year, definitely, I will try and cope.
How many movies have you starred in since your arrival?
Let’s say, I have done over 100 and I do not have my best yet. But Only Love, by O.J Production truly and really touched my soul.
A lot of people, especially your fans, do not know why you were banned. What really happened?
sincerely speaking, I also really don’t know why I was banned. In fact, there were so many insinuations on the cause of the ban. And I could not really pinpoint any, but, whatever it was, I don’t want to go into the details.
It was alleged then that you were fond of abandoning sets?
Well, nobody has the proof for that kind of heavy allegations. Besides, it has never happened with me. I don’t think I have ever left anybody’s set for any other job. The only time I left a set, I was very ill and I also made it clear, besides I left in the middle of the night, in fact, it was almost daybreak when I left, around 3a.m.
While the ban lasted, what were you doing and how did you cope?
It was really a break taking period for me, after all the years of hard work. The basic thing was that I rested a lot and also took out time to do my own personal things. Like visiting motherless babies homes and other things that I had wanted to do but didn’t have the time to do them because of my busy schedule as an actress. Soon, I will be starting my NGO; we are still working out the modalities. The break gave me the opportunity to do the research and gather all the necessary materials needed for the take-off. Aside visiting my parents and all the people I hadn’t seen in a long while, I also took out time to reflect on all that had happened to me in the past, both positive and negative.
People are of the view that you are very controversial and rude. How true is that?
I really do not know, better still, ask those who think I’m controversial. But deep down, I don’t think I am. Most times, some people can’t just seem to comprehend what you do and who you are. And I am not rude. Again, people confuse or misconstrue confidence with arrogance. I am somebody who does not like to be intimidated.
And now that you are fully back, what should your fans expect from you?
Even though I have several scripts waiting for me, I still want to take my time before hitting locations. I’m aware I have missed work but I won’t jump on any location. I want to take my time and come out differently. I also want to take a look at those things that were so “bad” that they said I did and see how I will make them better. So, currently. I’m still going through all the scripts before me to choose the best among them. I don’t want to be on every movie anymore. I want to strive and see how I can be very selective in all the scripts coming my way now.
What major lessons would you say you learnt from your ban?
The major lesson for me is that you should not take or judge people from what they look like. I trust very easily and that was one of my major problems. I also figured that, most times, some friends get closer in order to bring you down or get you out of your position. Another thing I learnt from the ban is the kind of responsibility God has put on me as a celebrity. I may not have reache the position or height God has taken me to. It is, generally, an eye opener from God to me.
Who are the showbiz personalities that have the greatest influence on your career?
Liz Benson used to really make me feel like I want to act. Edith Jane-Azu and a couple of others also influenced me. On the foreign scene, I like Julia Roberts and Chalize Theron.
What would you say stands you out and probably gives you an edge over your contemporaries?
I don’t know but I always strive to be myself at all times. I like myself the way I am.
So, how are you coping with stardom?
I still try to be myself.
And how do you keep away male admirers?
I just try to be polite in telling them I’m not available because I’m hooked. The stubborn ones get stubbornness from me as well.
Sometime ago, there were stories about your romance with D’banj?
He is a good friend, we never dated and that’s the truth.
Who is your ideal man?
My dream or ideal man is that man that is going to be good for me in all ramifications. He has to be God-fearing. I can’t compromise that. He has to be neat and decent too.
Are you still searching?
No! I’m not searching. I have found a soul mate and when the time comes, everything will fall into place.
What are your hobbies?
I like to swim, watch movies a lot, especially foreign. I try to watch Nollywood sometimes.
What weighs you down?
Anything very bad breaks me down and also weighs me down. I’m quite emotional and do not like hearing sad news. Disappointment is another thing that weighs me down.
What is the next level for Ini Edo?
Well, I hope to do a lot more for myself by developing more as a total artiste. I also hope to launch my NGO and start a family.
These actress are not only beautiful, they have what it takes to be the best in their chosen profession. Most of them would have made good wives but not all of them are so lucky to keep their homes. Any time they get into relationships with the hope of consummating the affairs, disappointment usually keep them still searching for "Mr Right." Although some of them have love children as a result of such unions, they prefer to keep these children out of public knowledge for their own interest. Kunle Rasheed reveals some actresses who have child or children outside wedlock.
Shan George:
This light-skin actress came out hot when she started out in the movie industry. Before her entry into the industry, Shan George was living in her home town. There, she had a forced marriage at a much younger age of 17. The marriage did not last. That marriage produced two grown up boys who are now schooling abroad. After that she tried to go into two other relationships, which did not last
.Ann Njamanze:
Before the fatal accident that almost claimed her life, Ann was a prominent actress in the movie industry. She lost her visible presence due to the accident, which restricted her to the sick bed for a long time.
Then her celebrated relationship with fellow actor Segun Arinze was cemented with the birth of her daughter Morenike. The union didn’t however survive the test of time. Today Ann Njaminze has moved on with her life. It was even heard that she had another baby not too long ago for the new man in her life
Ibinabo Fiberesima:
The beautiful actress has her own share of failed relationship. Her affairs with Phillip Trimnell and top singer Daniel Wilson were widely celebrated.
Not too long ago she got into trouble when her car rammed into a doctor’s car, killing him in the process. Today, it was reported that Ibinabo and fellow actor Fred Amata are planning to hook each other in wedlock.
But time will tell if Ibinabo, who already has two children from two different fathers, would be lucky this time.
Alex Lopex:
Unlike most actresses who find it hard to openly identify with their children, Alex Lopex’s case is different. At any given time, she’s ready to tell anyone that she has a son, Joshua, whom she had for her lover. Although, the relationship did not last, however, Lopex is ever grateful for the joy of motherhood that the relationship afforded her.
Fathia Balogun:
Just like Fathia Balogun’s relationship with her first husband, Tunde Anchor, the marriage between the Edo State born actress and fellow actor Saheed Balogun is said to be over. Before meeting Saheed Balogun, Fathia has a son in London for her former husband Tunde. The son lives with the father in London.
